Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in the year 2017 and was the top-streamed track within 6 months. It was a combination of reggaeton and pop music that not only drew attention to Latin Music but also reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish by 2016 compared to two in 2015. In the midst of Despacito's fame in the year 2017 there were 19 mostly Spanish tracks which made it into the Top 100. Then in 2020 there were 41. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages of Despacito (2017) popular musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton artists, including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna and Maluma for Medellin (2019). The mainstreaming of reggaeton was an issue for some artists during the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation determined to maintain the style. It was often associated with electronic dance as well as different forms.
