Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19th of 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poverty-stricken family which would later consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life through her vivid and far-ranging imagination. She was writing songs before she could read or write. Her first guitar purchase came at age 8 and started performing on a Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of eleven. Her first album was recorded during the same year Gold Band Records, a tiny independent label. The singer established a name in the local scene while in high school but she always dreamed of having a bigger stage. On the very day she graduated high school, in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer to perform on his show syndicated by him from the beginning. Parton became a member of Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed to RCA Records. The show was cancelled by Wagoner, but in 1974, because her solo albums like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums. Parton, after the split of their partnership with Wagoner she wrote the song"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and had it reach Number. It was the first time a song hit the top spot.
