April Ross

April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players to have won medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games is hoping to secure her third Olympic medal. In addition, Ross hopes to win the first Olympic gold. Perhaps she has one chance, at 39 years old. Still confident but she is not sure. If we perform at our very best or even if we perform well, I think we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Also, I'll take the chance to have luck. Ross was born August 22, 1982, located in Costa Mesa California. She resided there along with her entire family. At Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of activities. She competed in basketball and the track as well as her indoor volleyball achievements as a prep athlete. However she was clearly an edge over the other players in this latter game. When she played in her high school volleyball career in her university biography she played as a middle-blocker, outside-hitter and setter. She was named the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. In 2000, she was awarded an Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. While Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing since the year 2017, Klineman had already been a major player on the beach scene even before the pair formed. Actually, Ross has won several important tournaments throughout her career along with her two teammates. One is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through 2013. Kessy's teammate Ross, who was the winner of the world championship with Kessy in 2009, also was a major force on world stage. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she announced her retirement. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross participated in the Trojans at USC during her college after graduating from the high school she attended. Her time at the school was an impressive one. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. The Trojans were also able to get to the Final Four with her help. After her sophomore year, she experienced a terrible personal tragedy, but earned the distinction of being an All-American. In her last two years she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain and clinched consecutive national championships. In 2003-04, Ross was named the best female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in the US according to the Honda Sports Award. Ross studied the study of international relations in USC. Sadly, Ross mom Margie did not get to see Ross's daughter reach the top levels of beach volleyball fame. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. Her mother is still dear. Margie remains a source of inspiration, both off and on of the beach.
